Welcome to The Barn

The History

Originally constructed in 1974, many locals recall the JFR Barn as an iconic steakhouse restaurant and cherished institution in Southern Pines. Boasting the largest seating capacity in Moore County for decades, the Barn was the go-to spot for holiday dinners, family gatherings, date nights, and special events. Sadly, in 2012, the property was sold at auction and remained vacant until 2024 when Reno & Lynn Rollé spotted the beautiful Barn quietly beckoning to be rediscovered.

The Vision

Today, under new management, The Barn is being revitalized with a fresh vision while honoring its original splendor. In the mornings and afternoons, Café Boku will offer superfood-infused coffees, teas, smoothies, and delicious food items. As evening approaches, The Barn will transform into a destination for world-class pizza, a fresh salad bar, and a full cocktail, beer, and wine service. We are thrilled to partner with celebrity Chef Todd English, who brings his expertise from multiple restaurants worldwide and six James Beard awards. Todd’s partnership ensures that every menu item will be a culinary experience like no other- even our beer and cocktails will feature superfood tonics for a revolutionary, health-enhancing twist.

Outdoor Oasis

We’re also transforming the back parking lot into The Barnyard, a beautifully landscaped outdoor oasis featuring a beer garden, live music, and event space. This vibrant area will include a stage for performances, an outdoor movie theater for family nights, an auxiliary beer and wine bar, and even an ice cream parlor! Additionally, we’re installing a state-of-the-art EV charging facility, offering guests a seamless "Charge Your Car-Charge Your Body" experience first pioneered at Café Boku’s HQ in Ojai, CA. Whether you're refueling your car or refreshing yourself with delicious treats, The Barnyard ensures every visit is as rejuvenating as it is fun.

Community Gathering

At The Barn, we’re committed to building a space that brings locals and visitors together through a mix of community nostalgia and new, exciting experiences. By celebrating the barn’s history with live music, pop-up markets, and community events, we’ll create an environment that reflects the spirit of Southern Pines. Our menu will celebrate the region’s culture with seasonal, locally inspired ingredients, and our partnerships with local artisans will further enrich the space. Workshops, hands-on activities, and loyalty programs will engage both locals and visitors, making The Barn more than just a destination—it will be a gathering place for everyone.

Upcycling & Sustainability

In repurposing The Barn, we’re committed to preserving its original charm while blending it with modern touches. We’ll reuse the original wood to maintain the barn’s authentic feel and incorporate upcycled vintage treasures sourced from local shops, adding a layer of Southern Pines’ history. Our sustainable, eco-conscious approach enhances the space with creativity while reflecting our dedication to the environment.
